In Memoriam

Spilled blood of my blood
dissolved today
the face I never saw.

No echoes of your leaving
linger in the travelling sky
scattered warrior seed
in your westward home.

Build no pyre for brother mine
indented now in earth’s soft bed
till I, an orphan visitor here
am rooted too
on this pebble among the stars

TWICE ROUND

            Her name skims out in
                   Flat pebbled bounce
                   On mirrored mire
                   Rippling time's face.
                   Reckoning hands wield
                   janus blade in scything sweep

                   The jaded frog leaps
                   From mind tracks worn
                   By loving hand and lips
                   To croak hushed doubt
                   On who is who
                   or when
                   or what.
